Why Become A Life Coach?

Whether you’re changing your career or starting fresh from college, deciding and fixing on a career path is a daunting task. There are so many routes to follow with multiple factors to consider, including financial pressures, relationships, desires to go travelling or working abroad before starting and settling on your career path. There are, however, some options to do all of the above with a final career goal at the end of it. By collecting all these experiences, and wanting to share your experiences with others, teamed with a desire of wanting to help people, you may want to consider a career as a life coach.

As a life coach you are constantly enriching the lives of others, whether this is through helping businesses reach their full potential, or working one-to-one with individuals to overcome personal barriers and setbacks. It can be a rewarding job and a career that more people are naturally capable of than they realise. The fundamental personal qualities you require include; having the time to listen to an individual’s problems, being understanding to a wealth of different values and beliefs, then having the confidence to help people set achievable goals and the motivation to help them reach these targets.

One extremely appealing aspect of a career as a life coach is that you have the opportunity to set your own schedule, work from home and be your own boss. This role is best suited to an outgoing person, as you’ll be constantly meeting new people and sharing things you are passionate about. With this freedom you can meet with your clients in neutral locations that work for you both. This could be in a local coffee shop, in a park, or on walks around a nearby town. If you don’t want to spend all day sat behind a desk then you simply don’t have to. In addition to this, often by encouraging connections with natural environments and public spaces, you may find these settings inspirational, helping you and your clients work together towards positive outcomes.

By setting your own schedule and deciding on the hours you want to work, you can be a life coach whilst also having the time to pursue other passions. This can even be encouraged in this line of work, as continuing to learn new skills in a project you are truly passionate about, and being successful in your own personal endeavours, can enrich your ability to help other people to also reach their maximum potential.

The skills required to become a life coach are not formally regulated in the UK, which means that anyone can do it. However, a training qualification will help you stand out from the rest, and look more appealing to future clients. For life coach training in the UK, there are plenty of courses through professional organisations to help you build up the skills and qualities you need to begin your new exciting career path.  Many of these courses are very reasonable in price and offer payment plans enabling you to spread to cost over many months, meaning the initial cost set back doesn’t have to be too drastic. This can then be balanced out with the amount of money you can expect to make as a life coach, ranging from £30-60 for a personal health or wellbeing session, to up to £300 for a corporate session.
